Stakeholders have intensified financial support for Ghana’s senior national football team, with Engineers and Planners leading a fresh round of contributions toward the Black Stars’ preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Government, through the Deputy Minister for Finance and Chairman of the Black Stars Fundraising Committee, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, confirmed receipt of significant inflows from corporate institutions and public agencies, reflecting what he described as a “collective commitment” to the national team’s success. Engineers and Planners made a US$2 million payment as part of its broader US$5 million pledge, positioning the firm as the largest contributor in the latest round of fundraising. Timeline and Innovation also paid GH₵100,000, representing a portion of its pledged US$300,000. Further contributions came from the banking sector, with First Bank donating GH₵553,500, GT Bank GH₵2,236,000, and First Atlantic Bank GH₵1,102,000. The Petroleum Commission added GH₵500,000, reinforcing public sector participation in the initiative. Ampem, acknowledging the inflows on behalf of the government, expressed “profound appreciation” to contributors and emphasized the importance of sustained stakeholder engagement in mobilising resources. He added that the Committee would continue efforts to secure adequate funding to ensure the Black Stars are competitively prepared for the tournament. The fundraising drive forms part of efforts to strengthen financial backing for national sports, with authorities positioning private sector participation as a “critical lever” to reduce fiscal pressure while enhancing team preparedness on the international stage.
