The Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC) has closed down the Dr. Caesar Herbal Centre in Kumasi for operating without a valid licence.

The operation was based on the Council’s mandate to ensure that traditional medicine practitioners and facilities operate in compliance with the law and maintain valid licences.
According to the TMPC, the facility had been operating for about three years without renewing its licence, a situation it says contravenes the Traditional Medicine Practice Act, 2000 (Act 575).
Speaking to the media after the exercise, Regulatory Officer of the TMPC in the Ashanti Region, Divine Adzraku, said the Dr. Caesar Herbal Centre was closed because it had been operating without a valid licence for about three years.
He explained that the action forms part of the Council’s enforcement drive to ensure that all traditional medicine practitioners and facilities comply with the licensing requirements.
Meanwhile, the owner of Asempa Herbal Centre at Adum PZ has been invited by the police to assist with investigations after allegedly reopening the facility following its closure by the authorities some weeks ago.
According to the TMPC, the owner allegedly forced open the facility and resumed operations without the necessary authorisation.
Mr. Adzraku explained the circumstances surrounding the action and cautioned traditional medicine practitioners to follow the appropriate licensing procedures to avoid sanctions.
